What We Do
Astro receives damaged or worn Rams from can-making plants and OEMs across the country and rebuilds them to the exact specifications required for high-speed production. Our remanufacturing process is built on the same precision standards we use to manufacture new Rams:
- Inspection & Assessment — We evaluate the damaged Ram against its original technical drawing to determine what can be restored and to what tolerance.
- Undersize Grinding — All critical dimensions are ground undersize to prepare the surface for plating.
- Hard Chrome Plating — We apply hard chrome plating oversize, restoring the wear-resistant surface the Ram needs for long production life.
- Precision Finish Grinding — Every critical surface is ground back down to the exact tolerances specified in the original drawing — no shortcuts, no guesswork.
- Inspection & Shipment — Each reconditioned Ram is inspected before it ships, restored to the same standard as a newly manufactured part.
This same reconditioning expertise also extends to cupper, bodymaker, and decorator items — not just Rams — for our can-making clients who need dependable turnaround on wear parts.
