When a shaft has to perform without fail — whether it's running a production line or serving aboard a U.S. Navy vessel — precision isn't optional. Astro Tool & Machine Co. manufactures custom shafting to the exact tolerances each application demands.
| Industry | Application |
|---|---|
| Food & Beverage | Production line components |
| Maritime | Commercial marine equipment |
| Metalworking | Local and regional manufacturers |
| Industrial Products | General manufacturing components |
| U.S. Military | Navy surface vessels and submarines |
A large percentage of the shafting we manufacture goes directly to the U.S. Navy, supporting both surface vessels and submarines.
Built to Navy Standard
Navy shafting isn't just held to a tolerance — it's held to a record. Every shaft we produce for U.S. Navy applications follows specialized processing protocols carried out to exacting measures: full documentation, specialized heat-treat number tracking, and rigorous finished-product tolerance and testing requirements.
That same discipline — tracking, testing, and documentation — carries into every shaft we build, regardless of industry, because a shaft that fails isn't just a part replacement. It's downtime, and in some applications, far more than that.
Get Started
Have a shafting specification — Navy or otherwise — that demands precision and full documentation? Let's talk about what it takes to build it right.
1 – How do I get a quote?
Fill out our quote form with your part number, drawing, or a sample photo, and any details on quantity or timeline — the more we know upfront, the faster we can get you accurate pricing.
2 – What’s your typical turnaround time?
It varies by job — factors like material, quantity, and whether a part needs heat treatment or plating all play a role. That said, we quote promptly, keep you updated along the way, and always ship when promised.
3 – Do you work from a drawing, or can you match an existing part?
Either works. If you have a technical drawing, we'll quote and produce directly from your specs. No drawing? Send us a sample part and we'll reverse-engineer it to match — same precision, either way.
4 – Do you work with companies outside the canning industry?
Absolutely. While we built our reputation in the canning industry, we manufacture precision parts for food & beverage, maritime, metalworking, industrial products, and U.S. Military clients as well. If it demands tight tolerances, chances are we can build it.
5 – Can you handle both one-off jobs and high-volume production runs?
Yes. Our CNC and automatic machinery lets us scale from a single custom part to high-volume production runs without sacrificing precision. Whether you need one prototype or an ongoing supply of thousands, we hold the same tight tolerances on every piece.
